The Private Game Reserve is situated in the Central Lowveld near the Blyderiver Canyon and adjoining the greater Kruger National Park near Hoedspruit. Tshukudu, a Big 5 Game Reserve, boasts 5000 ha of unspoiled bush with a lovely view to the Drakensberg Mountains.
Close encounters with rehabilitated (orphaned) as well as wild animals will leave a lasting impression on all guests. At a very affordable rate, visitors can observe the Big 5 as well as a wide variety of animals and bird species on game drives and walks with a knowledgeable ranger sharing the wonders of the bush.
We have 7 thatched, air conditioned cottages. 3 of of which are wheel chair friendly. The cottages range in size sleeping from 2 - 5 guests. For big groups there are two big dormitory-style platforms with ablutions downstairs.
The camp contains a central indoor and outdoor eating area under thatched roofs as well as a cosy boma for your evening braai. There is a big, fully equipped kitchen where you have your own fridge and cupboard. Our staff wash the dishes, assist you with the preparation of food, make fires, help with the braai and generally make you stay comfortable.
Sheets, towels and a limited amount of fire wood are provided. All you have to bring along is your food and drinks.
Relax around the pool or watch the animals drink at the water hole from the viewing platform. There is a wonderful playground to keep the children busy. DSTV is available in the central area.
The Bush Camp is ideal for school and youth groups to experience nature first hand.
Accommodation for the groups is on 2 large thatched platforms (dormitory style) with bunk beds and mattresses. The platforms are fully mosquito proofed with ablutions downstairs. Teachers sleep in comfortable thatched cottages with private bathrooms.
There is a large eating area under a thatched roof, (also used for lectures) a cosy boma, pool and big playground.
The purpose of the course is to teach the youth about conservation awareness, game farm management, identification of birds, trees, grasses and spoors, snakes and snake bite treatment as well as edible plants and berries.
We do not keep rigidly to the school syllabus, but all courses are designed to help children to have a better understanding and appreciation of their school work, by allowing them to actually experience the things they learn about at school. We make the experience exciting including game drives, walks and lectures as well as sports activities such as volley ball, swimming and bush rounders.
