
BLYDE RIVER CANYON LODGE, HOEDSPRUIT
If you like to party and play loud music, then this bush estate is not for you. We are passionate about our environment. Please abide by the rules of no loud music or parties. No motor– or quad bikes. Feeding of animals and birds are prohibited as well as collecting wood in the bush. Speed limit is 30km/hr[enforced by management].
The estate has been a private game farm for 56 years and is therefore an unspoiled wildlife sanctuary lying in a shallow valley and surrounded by game parks on all sides. A small tributary of the Olifant River runs through the estate. All stands have a magnificent view of the Drakensberg Mountains.
This self-catering lodge is located in Greater Kruger Park which includes Hoedspruit with only 40 min. travel to Orpen Gate, Kruger Park. Cellphone reception is available in the estate.
Hoedspruit & Kruger Park are malaria areas in the summer months. Please take precaution i.e. lotions/candles at night.
Before you enter the estate you may make purchases at our Pick & Pay food store, butchery, chemist, liquor shop, restaurants, licensed restaurants and the well-known Fig & Bean Coffee Shop [caters for the health-nuts],
On the estate you may drive on the various game drive routes, view dams with elevated bird hides. Roaming freely are leopards, impala, kudu, zebra, giraffe, tsetsebe, warthog, eland, wildebeest, waterbuck [to name a few] and 170+ bird species. We also encounter hyena, wild dogs and jackal.
Cheetah Project, Mholoholo Endangered Species Centre, African Summer Spa, Mapusha Weaving, Swadini Snake Park, Kapama day/evening safari Big-5 trips, hot air ballooning, Jessica the hippo, the silk farm and much more!
Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window, World's View, The Pinnacle, Lisbon – and Berlin Falls/Graskop Gorge - all within a 1.5 hr day-trip from the Estate. Lots of small gift shops and restaurants on the way.
Fishing & boating on the Klaserie Dam. Blydepoort dam offers game viewing excursions, white river rafting on Blyde River or in the Olifants gorge [Abel Erasmus Pass]; game view cruise on a sundowner's boat cruising the Olifants River.
Hoedspruit Drakensig Club [9-hole] overlooks Drakensberg Mountains. Hans Merensky Course [18-hole] is on the edge of Kruger Park - here animals have the right of way. Phalaborwa [Hans Merensky Golf Course] is 1 hr. travel from the estate.
